In response my asking for feedback on my current sermon series,
"What is a Christian?" I got this email from a friend:
"You could do a whole sermon on what is NOT a Christian...heck, it could be a series...relativism, universalism, consumerism, judgmentalism, dogmatism...all the isms!"
Unfortunately he is right. Often today, Christians are known more for what they do in a negative view than a positive view.

Evan I watched a video a while back from Dare2Share Ministries and they went out to the public and asked for peoples definition of a Christian. I was so shocked at the answers. Almost all were in the negative. Like, Judgmental, Hypocrites, Two-faced, not trustworthy, weak, naive, and many others. I showed that to our youth and they just sat there silent. Then we talked about how they are perceived at school and many of those some words came up. So, we have really been focusing on Love. Love is so important and we leave that out way too often in our actions and our words. If we as Christians would learn to Love in all that we do, I truly feel much of these negative perceptions would disappear. I leave you with this:
1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Thanks Chris. This is a great observation, and unfortunately true. All the more reason to let God's love show through. Check out my sermon notes for this Sunday next. I'm talking about that from Eph. 3. Also, I should have my sermons in MP3 format on the church website by next week.
